End of Web 2.0

Well this is the end of my web 2.0 however I am sure I will continue learning new things as new technology keeps moving forward! It has been a grand trip with lots of ups and downs but I have learned alot. I wonder if this is what our ancestors felt like when airplanes and tons of new inventions including electricity were coming out one after another. Makes me wonder what the future holds!

Wikis

I love using Wikis. They are easy to understand how to use and get input from other people in. We used a wiki for our long range planning group and everyone could comment and see other comments so the feedback was useful. I would use wikis as an alternative to driving around to different committee meetings every month. Have looked at ALA's wikis and various staff ones we have. Really do find making a wiki fun!

social bookmarking sites

As del.icio.us as it sounds I have only used social bookmarking sites occasionally. Have tried it for flannelboard stories and it did find a few. Also tried it one day for a recipe with tomatoes and did bring up some great recipes but would find it just as easy to google. I could see using it for popular answers to questions we get all the time in the library within the aacpl system.

Online Office Tools

I tried using the calendar with online office tools but found if you do not check it or are consistant in entering your dates it really doesn't help you as much. I like the fact it gives our patrons another way to do their work and create presentations.

Office tools

Well I am finishing up web 2.0 by signing up for google docs and microsofts' office live workspace. Office live offers me a chance to put my household lists on it as well as my work info. I am not too sure how I will use this but maybe when I want to pass around programming ideas this will be useful.

am twittering now - and now the cats want to get on as well. They don't have anything else to do all day they said. Wonder how much verizon will charge me for a kitty phone?

Facebook

So I've been exploring facebook lately and have found lots of my friends on it. Great way to keep track of friends that you haven't talked to lately!!
